Frequently Asked Questions
I really love corresponding with people who ask questions about Czech perfume bottles. That is the best part of having this site! Below are some I frequently get...
Q: I have some bottles I don't know anything about. Can you tell me what they are? And have much they're worth?
A: I am always happy to share whatever information and experience I have. People frequently send me photos of their bottles. I usually research the bottles in my reference books and share that information with you. The current market trends determine how much a bottle is worth. Some reference books list estimated prices, but depending on when the book was published that price may not be accurate for current prices. As a common courtesy in return for the free time I spend researching your bottle, please offer me the first chance to purchase your bottle should you decide to sell it. A "thank you" email in response to the information I provide is always appreciated. You'd be surprised how many people do not even bother to respond after I share information that can take hours to research!
Q: Can you sell my bottle for me? Or, should I just try to sell it on ebay?
A: To keep my business simple, I don't consign bottles right now for other people. I like to have the bottle in my hands so I can vouch for its condition and authenticity. I also want good photos and descriptions. There are other very good websites that do handle consignments. And, yes, you could sell your bottle on ebay, though there are some caveats. I will be happy to provide advice on this, with the understanding you will offer me first chance to buy your bottle before you put it on ebay. Or, at the very least let me know when you're putting it up for auction.
Q: Can you appraise Czech perfume bottles?
A: I am happy to give my opinion; however, I am not a certified appraiser and my estimates are not to be taken as official appraisals. I will say that I do know the market pretty well and keep up on current prices and buying trends. And keep in mind, that appraisals for insurance and selling purposes may vary.
Q: Can you find me a particular bottle? I almost bought one last year that I really loved but it was sold to someone else. I haven't seen a similar one yet.
A: Yes, let me know what bottle you're looking for and I'll put it on my radar screen. I love finding bottles for people and putting it into their happy hands.
Q: Why aren't you selling purple bottles anymore?
A: I personally collect the purple and amethyst Czech perfume bottles so I keep the ones I find for myself! If you have any to sell, let me know and I might end up buying some from you! I may offer some in the future because my personal collection is getting too big and I need to make some shelf space.
Q: What happened to your Buy It Now buttons? How come I have to wait for an invoice?
A: Those Buy It Now buttons provided by PayPal became a headache! It was much easier to just have customers email for an invoice. That way I can add accurate shipping costs. And avoid two customers buying the same bottle at the same time!
Q: Do you respond to emails right away?
A: I certainly try to respond within 24 hours. However, this website is only one part of my life and occasionally I cannot get to it. Or, more likely, our internet connection goes down. If I am away for an extended period of time, I will put up a Shop Closed sign at the top of our website.
